Ronele Drive Closed at S. Kings Avenue on Aug. 10

August 3, 2026

As early as 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, Ronele Drive will be closed at South Kings Avenue for pipeline construction. Crews will be working on the east side of South Kings Avenue, from just north of Dali Drive to the intersection of Ronele Drive. Please note the following:

Traffic on South Kings Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions from approximately the JC Handy Sports Complex to Dali Drive.

Ronele Drive residents should use John Moore Road to access their homes.

Those visiting the Rivard-Simmons Event Center can use John Moore Road or northbound South Kings Avenue.

The sidewalk on the east side of South Kings Avenue will only be open in the mornings and afternoons to accommodate student travel between Dali Drive and Ronele Drive. Heavy construction activities will be paused during these times to ensure student safety.

To cross Ronele Drive, pedestrians should use the temporary sidewalk to bypass the construction area.

Construction on Victoria Street: Use Western Access Routes to Brandon High School

July 31, 2026

Pipeline construction on Victoria Street is now east of Brandon High School, and Victoria Street is closed to through traffic from Meade Street to North Parsons Avenue. On Monday, Aug. 3, Brandon High School’s student lot and teacher lot will be open, but students, faculty and visitors should access the school from the west using:

Limona Road

Meade Street

A temporary drivable surface will be in place on Victoria Street until paving occurs. Motorists should allow extra drive time and expect delays. When school resumes, students who walk or ride bicycles from east of the school should use the existing sidewalk on the south side of Victoria Street between Brandon High School and North Kings Avenue. Fence panels will be installed between the existing sidewalk and the work area to provide safe passage.

Open-trench construction on Victoria Street will continue eastward Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. over the next few months. North Kings Avenue is currently closed at Victoria Street. North Knights Avenue and North Moon Avenue will be accessible for local traffic only until active construction approaches. At that time, these intersections will be closed at Victoria Street as pipeline construction crosses them.

Boyette Road Tree Work Begins

July 29, 2026

Starting as early as Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, crews will remove trees and shrubbery inside the permanent utility easement along the west side of Boyette Road. Crews will be working from south to north along the Suncoast Girl Scouts’ property to east of the Hammock Crest community.

Tree work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for approximately four weeks to prepare the corridor for construction of the South Hillsborough Pipeline. If overhead limbs outside the utility easement must be trimmed to make space for heavy equipment, it will be done under the guidance of a certified arborist.

New Traffic Pattern on South Kings Avenue

As early as 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, weather permitting, a new traffic pattern will be in place on South Kings Avenue:

Northbound traffic lanes will be reduced and shifted to the west side of the road from approximately Buckhorn Creek Road to just north of Ronele Drive. Dali Drive will be open.

Southbound traffic lanes will also be reduced in this area.

Night Work Extended on S. Kings Avenue

July 24, 2026

The contractor installing the South Hillsborough Pipeline on South Kings Avenue has extended its night work schedule. Crews will be working overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as follows:

July 26 and 27: South Kings Avenue will be closed from Bloomingdale Avenue to Ronele Drive. Dali Drive will be closed at South Kings Avenue; residents of Dali Drive should use Bloomingdale Avenue for access.

July 28: South Kings Avenue will be closed from Bloomingdale Avenue to Princeton Street. Motorists should use Providence Road and John Moore Road as a detour.

These overnight closures are necessary to safely install the pipeline while minimizing impacts to daytime traffic. All dates are subject to change. Night work will not take place Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25.

New Traffic Pattern

Victoria Street Update: Construction from Meade Street to N. Kings Ave.

July 23, 2026

Pipeline construction on Victoria Street will be east of Meade Street by Saturday, July 25. Next week, construction will be active between Meade Street and North Kings Avenue. Please note the following:

Meade Street is now open at Victoria Street, directly in front of Brandon High School.

The teacher parking lot on the east side of the school will be closed on Tuesday, July 28; all teachers and staff should park in the student parking lot starting Tuesday until further notice.

School staff and visitors should access the school from the west via Limona Road to Victoria Street and park in the student/west parking lot.

Victoria Street remains closed to through traffic from Meade Street to North Kings Avenue.

Open-trench construction on Victoria Street will proceed eastward over the next few months. North Kings Avenue, North Knights Avenue and North Moon Avenue will be accessible for local traffic only until active construction approaches. At that time, these intersections will be closed at Victoria Street while pipeline construction crosses these intersections.

Crews Mobilize at Boyette Road near Hammock Crest July 27

July 21, 2026

On Monday, July 27, 2026, construction activity for the South Hillsborough Pipeline will begin on the south side of Boyette Road, just east of Hammock Crest. Crews will deliver heavy equipment and supplies to the area, then begin installing shoring for a tunnel beneath Boyette Road.

What to expect:

Construction noise and activity from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Brief traffic delays during equipment and material deliveries; no long-term road closures are anticipated.

Heavy equipment on site, including large cranes, excavators, control trailers and pipe materials.

Shallow dewatering wells will be installed and operating 24/7 with dewatering, noise-minimizing diesel pumps.

Starting as early as Monday, July 20, 2026, a portion of South Kings Avenue will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for approximately four to five nights, weather permitting, for South Hillsborough Pipeline construction. Please note that these timeframes are subject to change:

July 20, 21 and 22: South Kings Avenue will be closed nightly from north of Buckhorn Creek Road to Ronele Drive. Motorists should use Ronele Drive and John Moore Road as a detour.

July 20, 21 and 22: Dali Drive will be closed nightly at South Kings Avenue; residents of Dali Drive should use Bloomingdale Avenue.

July 23, 24: South Kings Avenue will be closed from Bloomingdale Avenue to Princeton Street. Motorists should use Providence Road and John Moore Road as a detour.

The night closure allows crews to install the South Hillsborough Pipeline across South Kings Avenue to the east side of the road. These overnight closures are necessary to safely complete the work while minimizing impacts to daytime traffic.

New Traffic Pattern

As early as 6 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, a new traffic pattern will be in place:

Northbound traffic lanes will be reduced and shifted to the west side of the road from approximately Buckhorn Creek Road to Ronele Drive. Dali Drive will be open.

Southbound traffic lanes will also be reduced in this area.

McMullen Road Open to Traffic

McMullen Road is now open to northbound and southbound traffic between Boyette Road and McMullen Loop.

The project team appreciates the community’s patience as crews worked to install the South Hillsborough Pipeline along McMullen Road. Wet ground conditions slowed progress, and the team still has a small section of work remaining to complete on McMullen Road at a future date. The project team will provide advance notice before this work resumes.
