S. Kings Ave. Closed from Center Ave. to Bloomingdale Ave. March 12

Beginning Thursday, March 12, 2026, South Kings Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Center Avenue and Bloomingdale Avenue for open-trench pipeline installation. Bloomingdale Avenue will not be accessible from South Kings (see detour map).
The first two phases of this work are:
Phase 1: Active construction from just south of Kings Row Plaza to Greenbriar Drive for approximately 4 weeks; access will be maintained to Kings Row Plaza, Happy Jalapeño Market, Bacon Egg and Cheese and Al’s Barn from Bloomingdale Avenue. Pediatric Dentistry of Brandon will communicate directly with its patients regarding parking and access.
Phase 2: Active construction from Bloomingdale to just south of Kings Row Plaza for approximately four weeks; Kings Row Plaza will be accessible via Bloomingdale; Happy Jalapeño Market, Bacon Egg and Cheese, Al’s Barn and Pediatric Dentistry of Brandon will be accessible via the South Kings Avenue detour.
Resident access will be maintained via the detour.
Detour
To access South Kings Avenue south of Bloomingdale, follow the detour to John Moore Road to Windy Place, Southview Drive, King Drive, Breezeway Court to Center Avenue. Through traffic traveling north on South Kings Avenue south of Greenbriar Drive will be detoured at Center Avenue. A 35-mile-per-hour speed limit will be in effect. Motorists should plan extra travel time and expect delays. Please use caution when driving, biking or walking in the area. Through-traffic may want to use John Moore and Providence roads as alternative routes for north-south travel.
Later Phases
After phases 1 and 2 are completed, crews will work on the north side of the intersection to install the pipeline on South Kings Avenue by open trench from Bloomingdale to Ronele Drive. Then crews will restore, re-stripe and fully open the intersection of South Kings and Bloomingdale. After that work is completed, crews will resume open-trench installation on South Kings from Greenbriar south to Alafia Boulevard. When open-trench construction blocks Vignoble Lane, resident access will be maintained via temporary access to Lucent Sands Court.
Tampa Bay Water’s contractor crews are performing this work as part of the South Hillsborough Pipeline construction. For more information on the pipeline, visit SouthHillsboroughPipeline.com.
