Tampa Bay Water’s contractor is rescheduling the tunnel work on Fishhawk Boulevard to reduce impacts on traffic for the upcoming school year.
Schools along Boyette Road and parents/guardians whose students attend these schools have expressed concern about traffic on this already-congested corridor being further worsened by construction. After hearing these concerns and meeting with school officials, the contractor was able to reschedule the tunnel installation near the 7-Eleven, just east of Bell Shoals Road.
The current open-trench construction and lane diversion on Boyette Road will continue and is expected to last until approximately February 2027. The contractor anticipates scheduling the tunnel work sometime in the future, after Boyette Road is re-opened.
