Crews building the South Hillsborough Pipeline will be closing lanes of Boyette Road starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Work will take place nightly for three to five days to close the westbound lanes in phases from just west of McMullen Road to Bell Shoals Road.
Each night, crews will close the interior lanes of Boyette Road, restripe the roadway, and adjust signal timing for lane closures and diversions that will take place the next morning. Following is the anticipated work plan, weather permitting and barring unforeseen circumstances:
- 9 p.m. Sunday, May 31: Interior lanes of Boyette Road will be closed from just west of McMullen Road to Wickerwood Court. At 6 a.m. Monday, westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane near Wickerwood Court and diverted to the eastbound lane.
- 9 p.m. Monday, June 1: Interior lanes of Boyette Road will be closed from Wickerwood Court to Sedgebrook Drive. At 6 a.m. Tuesday, westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane near Sedgebrook Drive and diverted to the eastbound lane.
- 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 2: Interior lanes of Boyette Road will be closed from Sedgebrook Drive to the Village at Boyette. The exterior westbound lane of Boyette Road will also be closed from Bell Shoals Road to the Villages at Boyette. At 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane just west of Bell Shoals Road.
Once the lanes are closed, crews will begin delivering heavy equipment and pipe segments to the area, then they will begin removing asphalt and installing the new drinking water pipeline eastward to the Lithia Water Treatment Plant.
This work is the first phase of construction that will affect the Boyette Road/Fishhawk Boulevard corridor over the next 12-16 months. Residents should expect delays and may want to consider alternate routes, when possible.
When driving in the area, motorists are encouraged to use caution and allow extra time for their commutes.
